Using Rohla Timer
How do I start a workout?
Open the app, set your work time, rest time, and number
of rounds, then tap start. A short countdown gives you a
moment to get into position before the first round
begins.
What do the screen colors mean?
Black is work. White is rest. You can
tell where you are in the workout at a glance, even from
across the room. No squinting at small text mid burpee.
Does it work in landscape?
Yes. Rohla Timer rotates with your phone. Prop it on the
floor, lean it against a wall, or set it on a bench.
Whatever works for your setup.
Does the screen stay on during a workout?
Yes. The screen stays awake the entire time the timer is
running, so you never lose your place mid round.
What happens if my phone locks?
The timer keeps running. Haptics and audio cues
continue, so you can keep training even if the screen
turns off. Wake it back up any time to see where you
are.
Can I play music or a podcast at the same time?
Yes. Rohla Timer plays nicely with your music. The app
adds haptic and audio cues without interrupting whatever
else is playing.
How do I set up a Tabata?
Set work to 20 seconds, rest to 10 seconds, and rounds
to 8. That's a classic Tabata. Rohla Timer remembers the
last workout you ran, so you can pick up right where you
left off.

Rohla Timer runs on your phone and nowhere else. Read
our
privacy policy for
the full details.

iPhone, iOS 17 and up. iPad and Apple Watch may come
later.
Feature requests
I want to request a feature.
If something would make our timer better, tell us. Rohla
Timer is intentionally simple. We don't promise to build
everything that's requested, but we read everything and
consider it carefully.
